On the 14th of December 2003 a party of 22 people from Victoria University of Wellington, New Zealand, began a trip of a life time. The trip was to Greece, to discover and explore the ancient sites, as well as develop an understanding of the modern country. We spent five weeks travelling around, including 11 days in Athens, and two weeks on Crete. We ended our tour by driving around the Peloponnese and then up through Boetia, ending back in Athens.

The Piraeus Athena is a bronze statue, housed in the Piraeus Museum. This piece was found in a warehouse in Piraeus which had been destroyed, possibly by Sulla himself. She is dated to c. 350 BC generally and is 2.44m (8ft) tall. (Greek Art and Archaeology, by John Griffiths Pedley)
My favourite thing about this piece is, not only is it Athena, but that you can see the toes on her right foot peeking out from under her Peplos (complete with toenails). Athena also still has her eyes and eyelashes.
